Manifesto

I, Thibault J.-Y. Derrien, have always admired versatility.
I am not trying to be the best specialist in a single niche.
I am trying to become a connector – a polymath who knows enough about many fields to bring the right people, questions, and tools together.

My strengths are idea generation, pattern recognition, and sensing who belongs where. I read across physics, chemistry, deep tech, social sciences, and psychology, and I enjoy seeing links that others don’t notice. At 41, in the middle of a deep Jungian transformation, I accept that errors and detours are part of the price of becoming myself.

Since my PhD in physics (2012), I’ve led two research groups working across mathematics, computational chemistry, and high-tech development. Some of publications of co-authored have been cited by Nobel prize awardee, by world-renowned research groups and patents I co-signed became cross-disciplinary. Today, I experiment with large language models and AI as a way to explore the immensity of knowledge landscapes more efficiently.

What I’m really looking for is a hot spot where my curiosity, my work, my creativity, and my personal life align – a place where I can build a family I truly trust and where my mind, heart, and time are not at war with each other.

My main organs are: national supercomputers, quantum computers, talented people, a sharp intuition, and the ability to recover my energy by resting in many ways other than sleep.
